Meet the Team
Rebecca first worked with Headway Cardiff in 1996, where she ran a series of drama workshops. She was taken on as the second ever employee, working as an Assistant Coordinator until 2002. Since then she has worked for a number charities in a variety of roles, as well as within Social Services. Prior to her return to Headway Cardiff she was UK Improvement Programme Manager at the MS Society.
Before joining us in 2011, Matt was Operations Manager for both the Ski and Football Academy. Matt has also worked as a Teacher within the Prison Service and was Centre Manager and Programme Specialist for 3 Clinics for children and adults with dyslexia.
Lisa is the longest serving member of the team. She began with Headway Cardiff back in 2003 as Assistant Day Centre Manager, before becoming Day Centre Manager in 2004 until the birth of her first child in 2009. Lisa took on her current role in 2015.
Emily has been a member of the team since 2006, initially as a Support Worker and then in 2008 as Assistant Day Centre Manager. She has a degree in Sociology.
Jenny has been a member of the team since April 2013. Prior to this she worked in the Training and Events Team at Learning Disability Wales.
Jessie joined the team in May 2016 from a support worker role at The Big Issue. After studying psychology at Liverpool university she went on to work with children and young people with disabilities, in various capacities. In her spare time Jessie teaches partner acrobatics and volunteers with a children’s circus charity.
Catrin joined the team in October 2016. Prior to this Catrin qualified as a speech and language therapist from Cardiff Metropolitan University. She worked as a domiciliary care worker for a number of years and advocated for young people in care through a children’s charity.
Anne Stewart has been in post as our first dedicated Welfare Benefits Officer since November 2013. She has a background working with Mental Health and Domestic Abuse organisations, amongst others and is a qualified Counsellor. Anne has recently become a keen runner and also enjoys yoga in her spare time.
Lucy joined the team in May 2017. Prior to this Lucy studied drama at the University of Kent and undertook a Masters in Sport Sociology and Ethics at Cardiff Metropolitan University. When not at Headway Cardiff & South East Wales, Lucy will most likely be found on her bike as she is an avid cyclist!
Helen has been a Day Centre Support Worker since she joined us in 2008. Helen has a degree in Textiles and her artistic skills are put to good use in her work here.
Prior to joining the staff team in 2013, Calum was a volunteer on a Wednesday and Thursday. Calum enjoys skiing,snowboarding and travel.
Prior to joining the staff team in 2016, Rhian volunteered for a year with the Tuesday group. She has a degree in Furniture Design and is currently training as Counsellor. She enjoys all things creative; from photography and drawing to cooking.
Chloe returned to the team in May 2017. She has a degree in Journalism and likes walking in her spare time. Chloe was previously a volunteer and Support Worker for Headway Cardiff and has studied Speech and Language Therapy.
After studying politics in Manchester, Helen moved to Cardiff and worked as an Information Officer for a carers organisation. Most recently she worked in the education sector organising training courses. She enjoys cooking and DIY.
Jag is in her 3rd year of psychology at Cardiff University, and is currently spending her placement year with Headway, split between the IWC and community services teams. She enjoys reading, especially mysteries and thrillers, and being out-and-about in the beautiful Welsh country
